Hello, I'm Lauren

The trainer and founder behind Maple Tree Dog Training. My passion is helping dogs and their people build calm, trusting, and rewarding relationships through ethical, evidence-based training that focuses on understanding behaviour, not just changing it.

As a DBS-checked, fully insured, and Canine First Aid-trained professional, I'm committed to providing safe, ethical, and personalised training that creates lasting change. My goal isn't simply to teach dogs cues; it's to help owners understand their dogs, strengthen their relationship, and enjoy life together with confidence.

Before becoming a dog trainer, I worked supporting individuals with additional needs and autism. That experience taught me the importance of patience, adapting to the individual in front of you, and recognising that learning isn't one-size-fits-all. Those principles continue to shape every session I deliver, allowing me to tailor my approach to each dog and family.

After qualifying as a professional dog trainer, I knew I wanted to continue developing my knowledge beyond training alone. I am currently studying a Level 5 Diploma in Canine Behaviour, building a deeper understanding of the science behind behaviour, emotions, learning, and welfare. Ongoing education is incredibly important to me because the more I learn, the better I can support the dogs and owners who trust me with their journey.

A huge part of that journey has been inspired by my own Labrador, Odie. Living with a dog who has complex behavioural needs completely changed the direction of my career. It taught me that behaviour is rarely about stubbornness or dominance, but about understanding the dog in front of you and asking why they're behaving the way they are. That experience continues to inspire my studies, my training, and my commitment to providing compassionate, practical support for every dog I work with.

I have a particular soft spot for adolescent dogs. Their developing brains, endless enthusiasm, and occasional chaos make them one of the most misunderstood stages of a dog's life, but also one of the most rewarding. I love helping owners navigate this period by building confidence, emotional regulation, impulse control, and the real-life skills that make everyday life easier for both ends of the lead.

Outside of dog training and studying, I'm probably adding to my Pokémon card collection, getting far too invested in weird TV series and documentaries, or hanging out with my animals. Dogs might be my career, but I've always had cats too, and they'll forever have a special place in my heart.
